英国留学推荐信不仅关系到能否顺利去英国留学，也关系到奖学金的申请，英国留学推荐信的写作准备工作被许多人视为一件很困难的事，毕竟英国留学推荐信推荐信的角度和其他申请材料都有所不同，而好的英国留学推荐信往往是非常好的“广告”。
英国留学推荐信的目的就像是视为以第三者的角度来推销自己，留学推荐信数量依学校要求不同，但通常有工作经验之申请者，最好准备学术(学校教授)、及工作(工作主管)各一份推荐信，以证明学术及专业上的平衡。在准备英国留学推荐信时，分为2个步骤(事前准备与请推荐者写推荐信)
事前准备分为择定推荐人选、了解推荐信内容的重点及方向、准备二份推荐信3个部分：
A.择定推荐人选：在请主管、老师?等撰写推荐信前，都有会有请「名人推荐」的想法，而所谓的名人，不仅是能耳熟能详的政经界、学术界上的大名，若在其领域很活跃者，也是重点人物哦！找推荐者前，可以考虑以下几点：
推荐都是名人可以加分吗？？
选择最适合我的推荐者(而非最好的)
推荐者跟我的关系与公正性
推荐都跟申请学校的关系。
推荐信每个学校，约需2-3封。(若毕业多年，着重公司主管推荐信；若刚于学校毕业，则以学校教授推荐信为主)
结论：推荐者最重要的考量是对申请者的了解，而不仅是推荐者本身的名气。毕竟国外学校未必知道在国内有名的，推荐信的重点是您的优点且需熟悉申请者的学习情况、学习目的是否明确、适应能力、创造能力、品性和特长等。
B、了解英国留学推荐信内容的重点及方向：推荐信内容字数大约从250至300字之间，故如果在短短行字之间交待重点及方向；且也利于提供给推荐人相关的资料。
推荐者的全名与申请人的基本情况介绍
交待推荐人与申请者的关系(认识期间、认识程度、关系)
对申请者的基本评价(如：专业基础、个性、品性、特点、工作态度、前途估计和实例)
(也可适时提出较无伤大雅的缺点)
(品性部分于之前〝履历表〞所提出的Interest是相呼应的；因国外学校在乎学生是否身心健全、品格兼顾)(学校老师着重学业潜能；公司主管则强调实务应变能力)
推荐人介绍申请人曾获得奖励、发表的论文、
参加过重要学术会议，以及曾在学生组织或学术团中的任职来支持自己的评价。
推荐人必须清楚地表明被推荐人留学的身分是研究生还是访问学者，专业领试域及研究方向。必须表明推荐人的态度是极力推荐还是保留推荐。
结论：若推荐者不是太清楚申请者时，准备好推荐信的重点和方向，能利于在请推荐者撰写时，提供相关讯息给。且在拟推荐信草稿时，也较能抓住要点。
C、准备二份英国留学推荐信：教授、名人、主管，通常十分忙碌，英文也不一定流利，故有时推荐人可能会要求申请人先拟好草稿，再来修改、签名。在拟草稿或是正常文件时，注意如下：
推荐信要客观、公正、切忌流于形式，内容空洞。
要与申请人的其它材料(如成绩单)等相符。
应注意格式、文法等，内容力求精简有力。
推荐信的格式与一般书信基本相同。有信头，发信日期，收信人姓名，称呼，正文，信尾谦称，签名，推荐人姓名，职称及工作单位等部分。
勿妄自菲薄，因推荐信用来表达自己的优势的哦！
注意学校是否有提供现成的推荐表格，是利用问答的方式，直接让推荐者作叙述和评价；但推荐表格上常有较难以填写项目，建议填写I Don‘t Know，以致不会产生严重影响。
请推荐者写推荐信：须沟通撰写方式，由申请者拟草稿或是推荐人自行写作；且尽可能的利用交谈机会让推荐人能明白的了解您，则在自行写作或修改推荐信时，才能不会有不符合现状的叙述产生。

一、推荐信写作技巧
介绍推荐人和被推荐人
推荐人要陈述自己是谁，在哪里就职，和被推荐人是什么关系。其中最重要的就是要写清楚推荐人和申请人的关系。如果平时接触的'不是很多，可以侧重说明两人一起合作的深度。无论从哪种角度，都要传达出推荐人对于被推荐人很了解，而非一面之缘的信息。跨专业的学生不用担心老师不是相关专业的，推荐信突出是学术能力和学科兴趣。
对被推荐人的综合评价
推荐人可以先用一句或者一段话来描述申请人，然后再描述申请人的客观表现，比如平时总是会在课上举手问问题，能找到别人没注意到的细节，或者会对同班同学课上回答的问题进行积极的反馈和补充等等。等于先下定义，然后再列举例子来支撑前面的综合评价。
展示优秀品质和学术潜力除了课堂上的表现，推荐人还可以通过和申请人的共事过程中的体验来侧面体现申请人的优秀品质，
比如：交上来的论文总是结构清晰，格式准确，来体现做事仔细，对学术认真；
或者除了规定的reading list之外，申请人还经常能在课上旁征博引别的学术资源，其实也就说明这个学生有学习主动性，而且学术广度比较大。注意这里不要写推荐人不可能知道的事情，比如经常“学习到很晚”或者“经常课下和同学发邮件交流学习”等等，否则整封推荐信就会显得失真了。
二、英国留学推荐人的选择
一般推荐信至少需要准备三封。本科新生申请分别是校长/辅导员/班主任，2封学科老师推荐信。
国内公立中学没有升学Counselor的同学可以找班主任为自己提交推荐信以及申请表格。其中主要的作用是班主任能够全面地推荐该申请人。另外2封学科老师则需要好好斟酌了。
转学生申请至少需要有一封是大学老师的推荐信，证明你在大学期间的表现，还有一封最好是辅导员。在推荐人选择中，需要遵循三个原则：
1.与被推荐人有直接关系并可信赖，十分了解申请人并且能够客观评判其优势和特点。
2.与申请专业具有相关性，比如申请生物专业，可以找生物老师或者相关科目的老师。
3.考察推荐人的背景，头衔名气以及职务较高为佳，不过前提是与申请者十分熟悉。
三、推荐信要求
（1）字数要求：不多不少，一封推荐信400-500字即可。
（2）格式要求：与一般书信格式大致相同，有称呼、姓名、日期、正文、签名、推荐人姓名、职称、工作单位等，有的学校会提供相应的推荐信表格，可依据特定格式来书写。
（3）数量要求：准备至少2-3封。
（4）推荐人要求：请教教过自己的老师或者教授，或者是现在工作单位的主管，不一定要求推荐人名气，但是一定要选择最适合自己的推荐人，而且该推荐最好和申请学校有一定的关系，也能提高申请学校对申请者的好感。
四、推荐信写作注意事项
1、避免夸夸其谈，对申请者的成就客观评价。推荐人需要表明对申请人的动机有所了解，并且还需要进一步的深造。过度赞美的推荐信不会有任何意义。
2、避免堆砌泛泛的赞美之词，加入具体事例。这样的推荐信才能具有真实性，同时描写精彩细节会让招生官对学生有着更加深刻的印象。
3、避免逻辑混乱，注意语言风格和思维角度，每一封信的侧重点要有所不同。
4、避免明显的语法、句子以及单词错误。
五、英国留学推荐信上传方式
填写推荐人信息，直接上传推荐信
大部分学校都是接受open reference的（比如纽卡，格拉斯哥等），即申请人可以直接拿到老师的推荐信，在填写网申的时候，直接上传到申请系统之中即可.这一类提交推荐信的方式是最简单有效的。
填写推荐人信息，通过邮件链接上传推荐信
有些学校是不接受open reference，即你不需要在网申系统中上传推荐信，只需要将老师的信息填写正确（尤其是邮箱地址），提交网申之后，系统会自动发送邮件给老师，由老师自己来上传推荐信.老师点击邮件中的链接进去，填写自己的信息，上传推荐信即可。
