Scholarships for international (non-EU) students 2018/19
We offer a range of central scholarships for talented international (non-EU) students.
These competitive scholarships are available to students who pay tuition fees at the overseas rate. If you're unsure whether you're classed as a UK, EU or overseas student for fee purposes, check your fee status.
New for 2018/19
We're pleased to award almost 100 scholarships to high-achieving international students. These prestigious scholarships will recognise academic excellence by offering a tuition fee discount.
1.Academic Excellence scholarships
These scholarships are split into two categories:
Academic Excellence scholarships offering a £5,000 tuition fee discount for the first year of study, for high ability students of any non-EU country
Country-specific Academic Excellence scholarships offering a tuition fee discount of up to £5,000 for the first year of study, for high ability students domiciled or a national of a specific country
2.Vice-Chancellor's scholarships
Five scholarships offering a tuition fee discount of £5,000 for each year of study (up to three years), for exceptionally high achieving students from any non-EU country.
3.Scholarship for international medicine students
Applications for 2018/19 will open in January 2018
For applicants commencing MBBS study at the Hull York Medical School.
You will receive a 25% discount on your overseas tuition fee for the first two years of successful study.
This is a competitive scholarship based on academic merit and financial need.
You must hold an offer for your chosen course to be eligible to apply.
4.Equal Access Scholarships
This scholarship is for undergraduate students who are seeking refuge in the UK. Find out more about the Equal Access Scholarships.
5.Sharifah Sofia Albukhary Scholarship
This scholarship is for undergraduate students, from selected countries, who need financial support to further their education. Students who receive this scholarship will be awarded up to £20,000 over three years.
Academic Excellence scholarships
Applications open on 1 February 2018.
Eligibility Eligible students must:
have a conditional or unconditional offer to study at the University of York by 30 April 2018 (you do not need to have accepted the offer)
be paying fees at the overseas fee rate (any fee assessments must be complete by the 30 April 2018)
be intending on studying a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught course based on the University of York campus
be a national of or permanently domiciled in a relevant country (country-specific academic excellence scholarships only)
Applicants cannot hold a 100% tuition fee scholarship or be fully sponsored.
Applicants for the following pathways are not eligible to apply for the Academic Excellence or Country-specific Academic Excellence scholarships:

You must submit your application form before the deadline of 30 April 2018
As part of the application, you will need to provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words explaining why you would like to be considered for the scholarship
A panel of senior staff from the University will select the successful scholarship awardees.

Why you are a strong candidate for this scholarship
How this scholarship will help you achieve your ambitions for the future
How you plan to pay the remaining tuition fees and living expenses
Vice-Chancellor's scholarships
There are ten scholarships available:
five undergraduate scholarships offering a £5,000 tuition fee discount for each year of study, up to three years
five postgraduate taught scholarships offering a £5,000 tuition fee discount for one year of study

Eligibility
Eligible students must:
be expected to achieve AAA at A Level or a 1st class undergraduate degree (or international equivalents)
have a conditional or unconditional offer to study at the University of York by the 30 April 2018 (you do not need to have accepted the offer)
be paying fees at the overseas fee rate (any fee assessments must be complete by the 30 April 2018)
be intending on studying a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught course based on the University of York campus
have already met the English Language requirements of their offer (by 30 April 2018)
Applicants cannot hold a 100% tuition fee scholarship or be fully sponsored.
