The Francisco J. Ayala School of Biological Sciences is a premier institution for the science of life. For over 50 years we have made training the next generation of biologist, and providing solutions to society’s grand challenges, essential to the mission of the School. Students:
In 2016, the Ayala School of Biological Sciences enrolled 1,243 new undergraduate students, making the Fall 2016 class one of the School’s largest ever. Our combined student population consist of 3,578 undergraduate and 271 graduate students, making the Ayala School one of the largest at UC Irvine. At the 51st annual commencement ceremony in 2016, the School awarded 720 Bachelor of Science degrees, 55 Master of Science degrees and 30 Doctoral degrees. The rigorous undergraduate educational programs at the Ayala School emphasize broad subject competence and performance, allowing a high number of our graduates to attend health-related professional schools.

The Ayala School of Biological Sciences is comprised of four departments focused on integrated areas of research and education:

In addition, the School is also home to several research centers and campus initiatives that are making significant contributions to basic and translational research, academia, and the broader community.
Faculty:
Faculty members participate in cutting-edge research on a wide variety of subjects. Their areas of expertise range from health-related issues such as dementia and neurodegeneration, stem cell therapies and infectious diseases, to environmental study and remediation and science teacher education. The School currently has 119 active faculty members.

3.Henry Samueli School of Engineering
Founded in 1965, the Henry Samueli School of Engineering educates more than 4,000 engineers each year (3,232 undergraduates and 1,042 graduates) with an integrative approach that blends fundamentals, research and hands-on experience. The school’s mission is to unleash innovation, create opportunities and inspire ingenuity. The Samueli School’s faculty members are leaders in their disciplines who have achieved worldwide recognition for their research and dedicated teaching. The school includes five academic departments: biomedical engineering; chemical engineering and materials science; civil and environmental engineering; electrical engineering and computer science; and mechanical and aerospace engineering. Under the leadership of Dean Gregory Washington, the school pursues research that is timely, socially responsible and cutting edge, and works in partnership with industry and state and federal agencies to promote the transfer of research to applications that benefit society. Current research thrusts include Communications and Information Technology, Energy and Sustainability, Human Health, and Advanced Manufacturing and Materials.

4.School of Humanities
In the humanities, we concern ourselves with everything human, what human beings have thought, written, made and done in all times, places and cultures. That we "call" the ongoing archive of human existence philosophy, literature, art, religion, or history is no doubt less important than that we find in what other human beings have done potential models for what to do, or not do.
Those skills we teach -- reading closely, observing critically, thinking logically and analytically, researching methodically, and writing clearly and persuasively -- are not the skills of a single job. We prepare you for much more than that. These are practical skills that can be readily applied to any number of careers, including many that the future has yet to create.
But the humanities also prepare you for all the other things that happen to us in life, things that truly matter, such as love, beauty, the challenges of leadership, the richness of human experience, the courage to think for oneself and the ability to follow those paths less traveled.
4.人文学院
