  Accommodation

Most exchange students find accomodation through the internet. Another possibility are the many offers at the notice boards of the UdK Berlin and the nearby Technical University, or the classified ads at the magazines zitty, tip or the ad magazine Zweite Hand. The International Office sometimes gets accommodation offers from outgoing students.

Most buildings of the UdK Berlin are situated in the borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (besides the media house in Schöneberg and the HZT in Wedding). However, the hippest area now is "Kreuzkölln", the northern part of Neukölln bordering on Kreuzberg); many students also live in the boroughs of Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg where there are many cafés and clubs. For a shared flat, you should expect to pay between 300 and 400 Euro (including electricity, gas and heating).

Student residences have to be booked through the International Office of the UdK. There are single rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen available. You have to pay a deposit of 500€ before a room can be reserved for you. Rooms have to be booked for the period of 6 months (September 1 to February 28 or March 1 to August 31).

If you don’t find a room before coming to Berlin, you may stay in one of the many hostels in Berlin. Prices are 30-40 Euro per night in a single room。

  Health Insurance

Students from countries in the European Union are required to bring their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Students with private health insurance must present the insurance policy. You cannot be registered without proof of health insurance!
