  Tuition Fees

The state government of Baden-Württemberg has abolished the tuition fees with the amount of 500,00 € starting summer semester 2012. A law to that effect (Studiengebührenabschaffungsgesetz) was passed by the state parliament on 31 December 2011 and has come into effect on January 01, 2012.

The University of Stuttgart does also not charge tuition fees for the Master’s Programs Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures (COMMAS), Geomatics Engineering (GEOENGINE) and Air Quality Control, Solid Waste and Waste Water Process Engineering (WASTE).

  Medical care

German universities do not provide medical service on campus. Like all other persons with health insurance, students have a free choice among doctors registered by the health insurance company. As mentioned on the page Health Insurance, health insurance companies that offer insurance for students settle directly with the doctor, dentist or hospital.

  Psychological Care

  Scholarships

Students seeking a scholarship should inquire and apply first at a local or international funding agency in their home country, e.g. the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Scholarships offered by the DAAD are normally awarded to students with a first degree. Application deadline is usually one year prior to the expected begin of studies and needs to be done in your home country. Check for information and application forms at theDAAD or the German consulate in your home country.

Accommodation for students in international Master programs

In case you have obtained a letter of admission, please contact the course director of your Master's program as soon as possible regarding accommodation. She/he will try to provide you with a room in one of the student dormitories.

Most of the dormitories, which are all mixed, are located on the campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. All dormitories can be easily reached within 20 min. from the city centre campus by S-Bahn (commuter train). The single bedrooms are equipped with a table, bed, chair, wardrobe/closet, bookshelf and a washbasin. There is a common kitchen for all the members of an apartment or of a floor. You must bring your own dishes with you or buy them in Germany. There are also toilets and showers on each floor. Bed linen and coverlets can be purchased in the janitor's office for 35,00 EUR.
