Why study nursing?

With this internationally regarded degree you will learn the best practices for restoring and maintaining people's health, preventing disease, and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
On campus you will be supported by a well-equipped simulated learning environment. And during the course you'll be given the opportunity to undertake work placements in both rural and metropolitan healthcare facilities.
Once you graduate you could find work in public and private hospitals, as well as aged care, community health, general practice, the defence force, and primary health care.
What you will learn in nursing
In Launceston you will study two semesters per year across 3 years, while in Hobart TAS, Rozelle NSW and Darlinghurst NSW it is fast-tracked and you will study three semesters per year in only 2 years.

working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals
Over the six semesters of study whether you enrol in the three year course or two year fast-track program, you will develop the knowledge and skills – and perhaps most importantly, the attitude – needed to offer the highest quality health care (outlined in the National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse, ANMC, 2006).
Professional recognition in nursing
As an accredited course, once you graduate from this program you will have the knowledge and practical skills to register as a graduate nurse in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Other information about nursing
After starting the course, you'll need to meet Faculty of Health Safety in Practice requirements in order to undertake practice placements.
There are plenty of opportunities for further study, once you've completed the course – including Honours, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Clinical Masters, Masters and PhD.
