Entrance Examinations
* Applicants must submit test scores of Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), administered by JASSO at the time of applying to sit for the Entrance Examination for International Students for the University of Tsukuba. You may use the results either from the June or November examination.
* TOEFL scores are also a selection criterion for entrance to the University of Tsukuba. Therefore, you must submit a copy of your certificate of results from this examination as well (students seeking admission to the Biological Sciences and Agrobiological Sciences courses may present their TOEIC scores).
Screening Methods
The candidates to be approved are decided on a written examination or practical examination (for the school of Health and Physical Education and the school of Arts), EJU scores and the submitted documents.
The school of Medicine and Medical Sciences sets two stage selections.
The successful candidates of first stage selection can go for second stage.
a) First Screening
Upon examination of the result scores above and of the submitted documents, the University decides the candidates approved in the first selection.
b) Second Screening
The final screening of the candidates are made based on a written examination or practical examination (for the School of Health and Physical Education and the School of Arts), an interview, and the result of the first selection.

Eligibility
The applicant must satisfy all the following conditions from 1 to 3.
Applicant must be a non-Japanese citizen.
* For returnee students
Applicants must correspond to any one of the following terms from (a) to (e). Also, applicants must have taken TOEFL applicants for College of Biological Science, or College of Agro-biological Resources Science may take either TOEFL or TOEIC)
(a) Applicants must have completed or should be expected to complete 12 years of regular school education by the end of academic year (March), in a country other than Japan. Or applicants satisfying standards specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)
(b) Applicants who are awarded an International Baccalaureate degree by the International Baccalaureate secretariat, a foundation based on the Swiss Civil Code. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age as of the end of academic year (March).
(c) Applicants who have qualified for "Abitur" in one of the states of the Federal Republic of Germany as a university entrance qualification and who are 18 years of age as of the end of academic year (March).
(d) Applicants possessing a Baccalaureate qualification recognized as the qualification to enter university in the Republic of France and who are 18 years of age as of as of the end of academic year (March).
(e) Applicants who have completed or are expected to complete 12 years of school education as of the end of academic year (March) from an educational institute having authorization of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), or the Council of International Schools (CIS).
